We have won the Health Assessment Advisory Service contract for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in the South East of England, London, and East Anglia. We are expecting to start this new service in 2024 and continue for at least five years.

The Health Assessment Advisory Service schedules and performs assessments on DWP’s behalf. The aim is to establish how an illness or disability impairs a person’s day-to-day life. The DWP is the one to make a decision, at the end of the assessment, on whether or not one is eligible for benefits of any kind.

We have some exciting opportunities for AHPs and for RGN Nurses who want to become Functional Assessors to work in support of Work Capability Assessments (WCA) and assessments for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in Ingeus UK itself, a part of the APM Group, a global provider of human services.

Aside from your working experience as a Nurse registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, you possess priceless transferable skills like critical analysis, objectivity, and logical thinking just to mention a few. We take this opportunity to invite you, therefore, to apply these skills in another area, in a career in which the object is to help support the most vulnerable of our population.

You will be part of a clinical community of practice with other clinical peers that will have a collective voice in how we further develop our claimants’ experience and in the positive development of your Health Assessment Advisory Service through leading change, informal mentorship, and formal coaching.

As a Function Assessor you will discover your main responsibilities to include such things as:

  • To conduct a comprehensive functional health assessment through the following evaluation:
    • claimants’ ability to function in job-related activities, in particular work activity, on a physical, mental, cognitive, and intellectual level (WCA) or,
    • their ability to perform activities of daily living alternately and safely and evaluate the impact of variability, chronic, and multiple health problems (PIP).
  • Prepare comprehensive reports stating the functional capacity of the claimants along with sound recommendations to be placed before the Department of Work and Pensions.
  • Work together with your team to provide unmatched service to our claimants.
  • Contribute towards the ongoing refinement and development of health assessment services and service excellence within the UK

To be eligible for the Functional Assessor position, you must have:

  • Must have at least 12 months of post-graduate experience obtained in the UK as a Registered RGN Nurse, Paramedic, Physiotherapist, or Occupational Therapist.
  • Strong critical analysis and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Effective information technology literacy, as you will be required to make use of numerous software programs and internet-based tools in the documentation of your assessments and in communicating your results.

We are dedicated to taking care of and supporting our employees and offer a competitive benefits program to help you grow and develop as a professional and as a person. Here are only a few of the things we can offer to you:

  • Continuous professional development (CPD): Development opportunities and training to grow your skills and career advancement.
  • Reimbursement of the professional clinical registration fees: Your professional registration maintenance will be reimbursed by us.
  • Private medical insurance: A comprehensive healthcare plan. Single cover from 6 months of employment.
  • Private pension scheme: Defined contribution pension scheme which you may join following 12 months service.
  • Extra annual leave: Option to buy more holiday days for your circumstances outside work.
  • Employee assistance plan: 24/7 access to confidential counseling to talk about anything affecting your emotional and mental well-being.
  • 3X salary life assurance. Protect your family in the event of an untimely loss.
  • Salary Finance: Loans, financial education, and tools to save and attain.
  • Loan for travel for season ticket.
  • The chance to purchase additional benefits like Critical Illness Cover, and Dental Insurance.
  • Service awards for long services.
  • Volunteering: Contribute two days annually to Community Giving.
